Happy release day to Stacey Abrams, whose first children’s book came out today.

Stacey's Extraordinary Words, for readers age four to eight, is a semiautobiographical picture book whose message still resonates with its author today.

Abrams explained to Rachel Martin that Stacey's Extraordinary Words is about resilience and perseverance — and how losing doesn’t mean you’re done.

That’s a theme that she’s carried through her political career, too, including her recent announcement that she’ll run for Georgia’s governorship again.

You can listen to Abrams and Martin’s conversation below or read a full transcript at NPR.
